May Update
Just a quick note to let you know of some things happening in the next few weeks.
First up is our exhibition on Scouting in Eastleigh Museum. This runs from 2nd June until 23rd June and will be a display of Scouting past and present as it has been run in Eastleigh.
Whilst the museum is open to the public, the District will be going on our Centenary Camp.
This will see all the groups taking their members away for a weekend of activities and celebrations. Expect to read more about that after the event.
The major celebration of the summer is going to be on August 1st at our Sunrise Ceremony. We will be joining the 28 million members of the Scout Association from around the world as we all renew our Scout Promise at the same time. Our ceremony will be on Eastleigh Recreation ground, by the bandstand.
So that is what is coming up, what about the things that have already passed?
We saw another successful evening of Chief Scouts Award presentations with nearly 30 young people getting their award.
The District also had a very good turnout at the annual St Georges Day Parade both locally and at the National parade at Windsor. Our local parade had over 400 people in attendance, and we filled the Baptist church. Our representatives at the National parade were James Meuhlnickel who received his Queens Scout Award, as well as our DC, Deputy DC (Bar to Silver Acron) and our District Chairman who received his Silver Acorn.
As always during our Centenary year, we are keen to hear from anyone
who used to be involved in Scouting, but may have lost touch. If you want to get back involved with Scouting, or are new to it, and want to find out more, then call 0845 644 5251, or drop us an email.
