Eastleigh says Thank You to it’s DC

Tuesday 27th November was a special day in the history of Eastleigh Scouting. It was the day that Eastleigh District said “Thank You” to Margaret Patrick, it’s District Commissioner for the last 10 years and a chance to gives thanks for this special Centenary Year.

The whole event was kept secret from Margaret until she walked through the doors of St. Mary’s Church in Bishopstoke. Once inside, she joined 100 other people from across the District, as they commemorated the events of this special year in Scouting.

The event featured pictures from the events, special mentions for people who achieved something momentous (Base Camp of Everest, World Jamboree, Brownsea Island on Sunrise Day, H007 and many many others) and music from 14th Eastleigh Scout & Guide Band.

The last surprise of the evening came when Margaret was presented with a large bouquet of flowers to thank her for her efforts in leading the District to it’s strongest position for many years. Brian O’Neill, ADC (Scouts) and the MC for the evening pointed out to the congregation that in Eastleigh District’s 98 year history with 21 District Commissioners, that Margaret is our longest serving with over 10 years in charge.

Margaret told the congregation that she had thoroughly enjoyed her time, and was looking forward to a bit of a break before looking for her next challenge.

Below are a few pictures taken of the evening.
