St. Georges Day
Well it’s April now and we have just a few days until St. George’s Day.
I guess too that the Easter Half Term holiday is well and truly over and everyone is now meeting regularly again.
I have attached below a word document containing the essential details of this years Parade. Please take particular note that this year we will assemble on the Recreation Ground near to The Point and not in the Precinct as before. Also note that we agreed each Group will nominate an adult ‘marker’ to leave the Church before the final hymn and take up position in parade order in Desborough Road for the return parade.
It is our policy each year to nominate a children’s charity to receive our St. George’s Day collection. This year we have chosen to join with the Church and support “Sophie’s Appeal“. I have attached a note for your information and would ask that you share its content with your leaders who in their turn, I hope, might find an opportunity to share it with their young people. I would like them to be reminded to bring a small donation with them for this worthy appeal.
After our Service the Church will be re-arranged for our Chief Scout’s Award Presentation. We would very much like to borrow some or all of your Group flags to form a back-drop to the presentation. If you are willing to lend them to us I would be grateful if you would return them to the Church immediately after the Parade disperses or if it is more convenient, give them to Ian Patrick (or his helpers!!) on the Recreation Ground and he will deliver them to the Church. You can be assured of their safe return after the presentation.
