Mix an egg, some flour and milk together, stick it in a frying pan and what do you get – a fun packed evening, as about forty Scouts from four of the Troops found out on Shrove Tuesday, when they partook in some pancake races.
The Scouts, some in fancy dress, met at the 14th HQ, armed with gallons of pancake mix, and frying pans at the ready, to do battle against each other.
First there were races for the fastest cooked pancake (about 45 seconds) then the best looking pancake. The skill of tossing them was put to the test next, with a pancake tossed over 60 times in a minute the winner. Then it was down to the real business of racing with the pans and cakes.
The 12th Eastleigh proved to be the winners, but it really didn’t matter in the end as everyone enjoyed themselves, and before going home everyone was given a freshly cooked pancake to eat, cooked by a small team of leaders
