Scouts help in Murder Investigation

Help from about 40 Eastleigh Scouts was recently required with the investigation of a murder in the nearby village of Twyford.

The body of a local GP, Dr Thomas Black, was discovered, dumped outside the Surgery during the small hours of Sunday morning. With the local police force stretched to it’s limits on traffic duties, the investigation of this gruesome discovery was left to the Scouts.

An arrival at the crime scene, the young investigators were met by the senior Officer who showed them the body, and whilst awaiting the forensic results, sent them out into the village looking for suspects, weapons and the location of the murder.

By piecing together the questions of local residents, the trails of evidence and their investigative skills, the Scouts were able to determine the last minutes of unfortunate Dr. Black. These details were handed over to the Police, who were able to apprehend the culprit.

Although the Scouts were able to solve this murder mystery, it is unlikely to be a regular occurrence, as they were competing in the Taylor Memorial Trophy, an annual competition for teams of Scouts, and this year based upon the popular board game ‘Cluedo’
