Early morning, well 7.30am Saturday 26th June. Lidls must have thought it was to be a really good day for sales, as 243 people arrived in cars. To shop? No to board 4 coaches to transport Eastleigh Beavers and Cubs to Longleat for a ‘Big Day Out’.
On arrival at Longleat we joined the rest of the 4500 youngsters and Leaders from across Hampshire as we drove past a long line of cars and much to the drivers dismay and entered the park. Eastleigh were due to travel through the Safari park in the first batch of coaches. The animals had been given an early morning call to ensure we could see them.
After the Safari the rest of the day was ours, except to be on the lawn in front of the house for the Beaver Tail Slap and the Cubs Grand Howl. How do you stop a Mexican Wave? You can’t. The County Commissioner thought it would be a good idea to start one and was then left after the 6th time round of trying to stop it. It included all the boys and girls taking their hats off and throwing them in the air!!!
After a long day we boarded the coaches and headed back – much quieter on the coach this time though. I wonder why?
It was a good successful day – very very hot. Never seen so many water bottles being refilled.
