During the recent ‘Nights Away’ meeting it was agreed to arrange Child protection training for leaders who have not done this training but need to do so to gain their nights away permit.
It was also suggested that any adult that goes on camps or events that involve an overnight stay, (if they wish to hold a permit or not) should receive this training, if they have not already done so.
The main method of training to be used will by the Scout Association essential information Module Part 3-Safety and Part 4-Child Protection. The other two parts of this training module will be shown after the Child Protection debate for persons who have yet to complete Module 1 of the Adult Leader Training. The whole event should not last over 1-1/2 hours.
It is also hoped that leaders may be able to enter the NSPCC ‘Keeping Children Safe’ Child Protection Awareness Programme for which Leaders are certificated.
It has therefore been arranged to hold a session on Child Protection training, on Tuesday Sth April 2008 at the 1 st Eastleigh Scout HQ, Chamberlayne Road, Eastleigh starting at 8pm. Persons attending can use the car park besides the HQ.
We would like to see as many leaders as possible attend this important part of their training, and all are invited.
Hope to see you there,
Brian O’Neill
